List of Services and Modalities

As a specialized outpatient practice, we focus on trauma, substance use, and other mental health conditions that can lead to difficulty with managing distress, emotional regulation, self destructive behaviors, or other maladaptive forms of coping. We hold the belief that all of this is interconnected and for sustainable change to happen it has to be treated as a whole. The work should be balanced between actionable and practical steps to take as well as processing and reflection as to the underlying cause of the behaviors.

While we are able to assist with substance use issues, that isn't a requirement to work with us. Mental health is complex and looking at unresolved issues, past traumas, loss, attachment issues, and complex PTSD presentations are very common issues that we have training and experience in working with.

The first session is focused on getting to know each other and working on building rapport, getting comprehensive history, and identifying initial goals in treatment. We look at biological, psychological, and social factors (including spirituality and cultural considerations) as these are all factors and systems that can have an impact on well-being.

Brainspotting
A powerful and focused treatment that works on identifying, processing, and releasing neurophysiological sources of emotional or body-based pain, trauma, dissociation, and other challenging symptoms. It works with the deep brain and body through direct access to the limbic and autonomic systems within the central nervous system to help regulate and start to shift psychological, emotion, or physical pain.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
Primarily developed for PTSD, but now used for a wide range of issues, it is an adaptive and well researched therapeutic approach. Typically focused on a brief traumatic memory or negative cognition, the process involves bilateral stimulation which helps to reprocess the memory so it is less distressing.
DBT, ACT, CBT

Through effective scientific research Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy are all examples of evidenced-based therapies.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy - Typically used for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness strategies, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy - Focuses on accepting difficult feelings while committing to value-driven and pro-social actions.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - Works on changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. Typically used for Anxiety, Depression, Insomnia, and PTSD.

Emotion Focused Therapy
Another evidence-based form of therapy that helps individuals, couples, and families identify, experience, and transform emotions to create stronger self-awareness and healthier connections. With roots in attachment theory, this helps people to move past maladaptive patterns, build secure bonds, understand their core emotional needs that lead to pattern changes.
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)
A form of talk therapy that focuses on healing trauma and emotional pain by exploring deep emotions within a safe setting. This emphasizes resilience and helps to create body-based experiences (somatics) that also allow people to move from sticking points.
